Recalled Sprinklers

The Georgia State Fire Marshal’s interpretation regarding NFPA 25 Inspections and voluntarily recalled sprinklers is the recall is voluntary and not mandatory.  Identifying a voluntarily recalled sprinkler or withholding identifying a system as compliant solely because of the presence of voluntarily recalled sprinklers is not part of a NFPA 25 inspection.  The presence of voluntarily recalled sprinklers should not be noted within the inspection report and the decision to replace the sprinklers is up to the local AHJ.

If a sprinkler is under a mandatory recall it has lost its listing and is required to be replaced.
